Just 10 kilometers from Hotel Planai, the Dachstein Cable Car takes you up to the Dachstein Glacier.
The Dachstein is one of the most visited places in Styria – and for good reason. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. At an altitude of 2,700 meters, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Alpine peaks, best experienced from the Dachstein Sky Walk viewing platform. A head for heights is recommended, as the platform extends over the edge of the cliff and features sections with a glass floor.
A visit to the Ice Palace is also a must. Inside the glacier, an impressive world of ice and snow awaits, creating a truly unforgettable experience.
Austria’s highest suspension bridge is directly connected to the Ice Palace. Known as the "Stairway to Nothingness," it offers an extra thrill for those seeking an unforgettable adrenaline rush.

Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card
When staying at Hotel Planai, the Summer Card is included. This card gives you discounted – or even free – access to numerous activities in the region. (No guarantee can be given for any restrictions or changes in opening times.)

With over 100 free holiday experiences and more than 100 bonus services, the Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card is one of the largest inclusive cards in the Alpine region. If you stay at Hotel Planai between May 17 and November 3, 2025, you will receive the Summer Card with just one overnight stay – at no additional cost – adding even more enjoyment to your holiday.
The Summer Card is valid from 1 p.m. on the day of arrival and throughout your stay (including the day of departure). Please note the opening times of individual attractions.
With the Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card, you can enjoy one mountain ascent and descent per day with a cable car of your choice. All other leisure facilities can be used as often as you like.
Our younger guests will of course receive their very own Kids Summer Card. Specially designed for families, the card offers an unbeatable range of holiday activities. Over 40 attractions are included especially for children and families.
