The skiing is right outside the door, and after a day on the mountain, you can quickly reach the shops, cafés and restaurants in the centre of Schladming. The hotel lobby is a natural meeting place. Here, you can relax with a drink from the bar, chat with the guides or meet up with the rest of your family or group after a day on the slopes. Just 10 metres from the World Cup slope

One of Hotel Planai’s biggest advantages is its location close to the skiing. The World Cup slope is only around 10 metres away, allowing you to start your ski day quickly without long walks carrying your equipment. From here, you have access to Schladming’s extensive ski area, with around 167 kilometres of pistes spread across four interconnected mountains. This makes the hotel a great base if you want to spend as much time as possible skiing while still staying in the heart of town.

The hotel is designed for an active ski holiday, making it easy to get from your room to the slopes and back again. After skiing, you can relax in your room or spend time in the hotel’s communal areas. The lobby, bar and reception are centrally located within the hotel, making it easy to meet up before heading into Schladming or gathering for dinner. If you are travelling by electric car, the hotel has six 11 kW charging points. You will need to bring your own charging cable. When travelling by air, direct transfers from the airport are available, making the journey to the hotel straightforward.

Good food throughout your ski holiday

Stays at Hotel Planai generally include half board. The day begins with a generous breakfast buffet, giving you plenty of energy before heading out onto the slopes. After skiing, afternoon coffee and cake are served, while dinner consists of a varied buffet featuring both Austrian and international dishes. An Austrian-themed buffet is served once a week. There is also a children’s buffet, as well as options for special dietary requirements. If you would like to take lunch with you onto the mountain, you can also prepare a packed lunch during breakfast for an additional charge. During selected periods, stays are offered on a breakfast-only basis. During these periods, breakfast is served daily, while no other meals are available at the hotel.

Ski holidays for families with children and teenagers

Hotel Planai is particularly well suited to families with older children and teenagers. Its central location makes a family ski holiday easy to manage, with both the slopes and the town close by. Child rates are available up to the age of 18 when the child or teenager travels with two adults. Younger guests aged 3 to 12 can join Klub Elliot. Activities are designed with children in mind and focus on play, shared holiday experiences and making new friends. Teenagers aged 13 to 18 can take part in PeakZone during weeks 1, 7, 8 and 9. The programme combines skiing with social activities and opportunities to meet other young people. There is no need to know anyone beforehand, giving teenagers the chance to form their own community during the ski holiday.

Hotel Planai is centrally located in Schladming, with the town’s pedestrian zone just a short walk away. Here, you will find shops, cafés and restaurants, giving you plenty of options for continuing your day once the skis have been put away. The location is therefore ideal if you want more than skiing from your holiday. You can spend the day on the mountain and still easily head into town in the afternoon or evening. This also makes the hotel a convenient option for families or groups where not everyone wants to ski all day.

Skiing across four interconnected mountains

Schladming offers around 167 kilometres of interconnected pistes spread across four mountains: Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm. The four areas are connected by lifts and pistes, allowing you to explore the ski area without needing additional transport between the mountains. The area offers varied skiing, with everything from wide pistes to more challenging descents. This gives you plenty of opportunities to adapt your ski day to your ability and preferences, whether you enjoy long journeys across the ski area or prefer spending the day on a smaller selection of favourite slopes. Planai is also one of the best-known mountains in the region and hosts international ski competitions. Staying at Hotel Planai therefore puts one of Schladming’s main ski areas right outside your door.
