However Schladming is offering more than just this. Hier you will find a broad range of activities, which makes Schladming a perfect fit for the ones who wants to experience an active holiday no matter traveling with family, friends, partner or on your own.
The versatile hiking trails in Schladming-Dachstein offers the ideal opportunities for both young and old to explore the surroundings. From simple trails to longer and more advanced ones. Along the trails there are some very good and typical austrian guest houses where they serve local specialities, and some of them even has their own produce on side. A hiking trail, which we can highly recommend is the "Wilde Wasser". This trail takes you to the Riesacher waterfall, which is the highest waterfall in Steiermark. The nature is incredibly beautiful here.
Only a 15 minutes drive from Hotel Planai in Schladming is the Dachstein Glacier, which is the perfect activity for the ones who can not get enough of the snow. The area is on the UNESCO list of world heritage. Here you will experience a breathtaking view and an experience that you will never forget. Try to walk over the highest suspension bridge in Austria, or the "Dachstein Sky Walk" partly constructed in glas - in other words not for those afraid of hights.
A summer holiday is not complete without a refreshing swim when it gets too hot in the sun. Close to Schladming you will find 2 great lakes, and you can swim in both of them. Here you will also find activities like bouncy castles, play grounds, tennis, beachvolley and football.

From cosy to fast-paced mountain bike trails
Schladming offers no less than 920 km of bike trails where you can experience everything from cosy trails to fast-paced and exciting mountain bike trails. In the summer season the slopes are transformed into a mecca for mountain bike enthusiasts. The down-hill trail starts at 1.830 meters over sealevel, on top of Planai, and ends 4.5 km down the montain in the heart of Schladming. There are 11 different trails, which all varies in difficulty, and makes sure that there are something for everyone. The equipment can be rented at the sports shop right next to the hotel. For those who wants to go for a ride but do not want it to be so extreme there is also the possibility to rent electric bikes.
Action and speed is not only for those who choose to mountainbike down-hill, the landscape has many rivers, which makes it ideal for River Rafting. In combination with a professional guide and equipped with helmet, wet suits and life jacket you can feel safe. Rafting is an amazing activity for the whole family. It does not have to be wild, you choose which kind of experience you want to have.
